David “HABBENINK” Habben is a Utah-based illustrator, artist, and educator who is known for his detailed and imaginative work that blends playfulness with a thoughtful design sense. This piece represents unity within the endlessly diverse voices and influences that have shaped—and continue to shape—American identity.
With a style that mixes bold colors and fluid lines, Habben brings a unique approach to a variety of mediums, from editorial illustrations to children’s books to branding work. He is an associate professor at Brigham Young University and has received awards from various organizations for his illustrative work, including 3x3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, and New York’s Society of Illustrators.
